ADI’S MYPATHWAY GOES LIVE IN BARCELONA

ADI’S MyPathway has gone live with patients on a clinical trial for non-invasive ventilation in the Hospital Clinic de Barcelona.

Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) therapy at home for chronic respiratory failure has proven effective in improving the patient’s quality of life.  However, patient compliance with the therapy is still a clinical day-to-day problem. Monitoring the patient has shown to improve adherence, and it is thought that an additional behavioural intervention in addition to usual care, will further improve compliance as well as patient satisfaction. benefit

Via ADI’s MyPathway® app, patients are given educational material on nutrition, physical activity and sleep hygiene, and have access to videos on using masks and humidifiers. As part of the behavioural intervention, goal setting for NIV adherence and motivational messages around life-style changes are sent.  Patients receive daily automated reminders to self-report the number of hours of Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BPAP) use each night, along with weekly and monthly reminders to answer questions about symptoms.

MyPathway allows the respiratory clinicians to monitor the progress of each patient using a range of automated questionnaires, from baseline at the start of the trial, through to a post-intervention assessment after 12 weeks. Daily adherence to the BPAP regime is monitored digitally, and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS) are acquired at points on the patient journey. “Troubleshooting” questionnaires and additional advice is sent if patients are having difficulty adhering to the prescribed BPAP regime, to help maintain the patient’s motivation and commitment to the therapy.

MyPathway®  is a multiple languages tool and is being delivered in Barcelona in Catalan, Spanish and English.
