As we make the transition to a low carbon economy, smart meters have a vital role to play. Consumers will be given the information they need to fully understand and manage their energy consumption effectively, save money and reduce carbon emissions. This will be central to help tackle climate change and to deal with consumer concerns about the rising costs of energy.

Within the UK alone, there is a major programme which will involve installing new wireless smart meters and displays in 27 million homes.

ADI are playing a vital role as a technically expert R&D resource. Our activities have included:

• Design of an advanced ZigBee SE In Home Display for a Smart Energy product company
• Development of  software for one of the first ZigBee SE energy monitoring and control plugs.

ADI  are now providing a design and integration capability to utilities and equipment providers to help ensure that the ambitious, £10BN UK smart meter rollout is successful.
