The Background

ADI worked with a customer that had an innovative idea to develop an electronic product to detect optical properties of certain materials.

They had already contracted a prototype development which had demonstrated the feasibility of their ideas but this prototype was not a suitable starting point to develop into a product.

The Challenge

Key engineering challenges included: the selection of an appropriate micro device for a real time signal processing software and developing a reliable, robust algorithm whilst achieving challenging price performance targets.

The Solution

ADI developed a spec for a low cost effective hand held product with tightly coded real time software, running on a low cost micro and suitable for manufacturing in large volumes.
